MCI Advisory launches new fund with Enfusion expert Managed Services Team

MCI Advisory Limited is a Hong Kong-based hedge fund manager that has experienced tremendous growth in the past few years. As the business began adding new strategies and increasing trading levels, its operational needs also grew.

The Challenge

MCI Advisory Limited is a Hong Kong-based hedge fund manager that has experienced tremendous growth in the past few years. As the business began adding new strategies and increasing trading levels, its operational needs also grew.

Enter Gordon Lau, MCI’s chief operating officer. When he first joined the company in 2017, Gordon worked as a trader. In this role, he gained firsthand knowledge of running funds with Linedata, Bloomberg and even a custom-built portfolio management system. But while using those systems, he encountered issues that ranged from market data delays to pricing lags to the inability to capture positions, resulting in the need for manual input.

When the company announced it was launching a new fund, Gordon began to search for solutions to the company’s trading challenges. He knew off the bat that a few vendors wouldn’t work for MCI’s needs based on his familiarity with trading system capabilities.

The Enfusion Solution

For Gordon and MCI, Enfusion was the one provider that stood out among the rest. A big draw was Enfusion’s managed services offering. MCI gained access to an expert team of Enfusion employees to manage the company’s middle and back-office operations, so MCI could focus their time on trading and front office tasks. The Enfusion services team delivers MCI in time information with their global operating model: handing off processes across its regional teams so all deliverables are completed when MCI needs them, which was especially beneficial during the fund launch.

MCI was also drawn to Enfusion’s:

  • Attractive and flexible bundle package that includes both software and services
  • High level of integrated functionality support with quick response times
  • Organized daily reconciliation and monthly shadowing
  • Smooth workflow
  • Fair and reasonable pricing

Plus, MCI appreciated Enfusion’s execution management system for its pre-trade compliance capabilities: which makes it easy to set up and track rules, find profits and losses, and look at return figures and data history.

The Results

The entire implementation process was seamless and successful, despite MCI’s tight timeline of about five weeks. With Enfusion’s help, MCI Advisory Limited has witnessed many operational improvements, and the relationship has continued to grow. The solution turned out to be an ideal fit because as an emerging manager launching a new fund because MCI was lean on resources and Enfusion was able to fill in the gaps.

It is no doubt that Enfusion uplifts our efficiency on a certain scale. We are a small fund house. A stable and sound system serves as a great foundation for our operation without too many human resources. As a COO, customized report exporting is what I highly need. Enfusion’s system allows amazingly high flexibility in customized report settings; I can easily generate the reports with the PC team’s support.

-Gordon Lau, Chief Operating Officer of MCI Advisory Limited
